Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
See Attachment A.
The accelerated merit step increases for the nine Deputy Sheriff II positions are recommended to correct an inequity in salary step placement for nine incumbents who were promoted from Deputy Sheriff I to Deputy Sheriff II prior to their merit step increase anniversary date. Other incumbents who were promoted later on their actual anniversary date received their annual merit step increase as a Deputy Sheriff I then were placed at a higher salary step in the Deputy Sheriff II salary range in accordance with the County Code. The Sheriff's department will refrain from promoting Deputy Sheriff I incumbents prior to their merit step increase anniversary date to prevent this problem in the future. |
