Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
By this action, the Board of Supervisors formally adopts the National Incident Management System (NIMS), per Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-5, which establishes a single, comprehensive approach for Federal, State and local governments to work together to prepare for, respond to and recover from domestic incidents.
NIMS provides for interoperability and compatibility among Federal, State and local capabilities and includes a core set of concepts, principles, terminology and technologies covering the incident command system, unified command, training, management resources and reporting.
Approval of this resolution is required of local agencies as a condition of receipt of Federal preparedness grants and other Federal Homeland Security contracts and activities. |
