Recommended Action |
- Approve four-year memorandum of understanding with the General unit subject to final approval of language by County Counsel.
- Adopt Resolution for paying and reporting the value of employer-paid member contributions for members of the General Unit.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
The General unit has reached a four-year tentative agreement with the County to reduce the cost of their compensation. The major changes to the previous MOU are as follows:
•Employee payment of the employee contribution to CalPERS (7% increased payment for miscellaneous)
•Salary increases of 6% over the life of the MOU (These salary increases will slightly offset the increased payment by the employee of their retirement contribution while still resulting in a net decrease in county costs.)
•Reduced vacation accrual schedule for employees hired after July 1, 2013
•Longevity pay for employees with 10 or more years of service effective November 17, 2013
•Increased pay for shift differential and deferred compensation to match other units
In addition, the County agreed that General unit employees shall not be furloughed for fiscal years 2013-14 or 2014-15.
The entire revised MOU is attached for your review. Staff requests board approval of the attached MOU subject to final approval of language by County Counsel. |
