Reason for Recommended Action/Background |
Background
On December 4, 2012, the Board approved withdrawal from Sierra-Sacramento Valley (S-SV) Emergency Medical Services EMS Agency Joint Powers Agreement. In addition, the Board approved the creation of a Yolo County Local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency. The Yolo County Health Department has been working on establishing the Yolo County Emergency Medical Services Agency (YEMSA) effective July 1, 2013. The YEMSA is responsible for establishing agreements with all Agencies who plan on operating in Yolo County, both in County and Out of County entities.
Reason for Recommended Action
By approving the template contracts, the Board shall grant the YEMSA authority to work with all interested agencies who want to operate in Yolo County with respect to EMS services. Maintaining these agreements shall ensure the YEMSA is in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations as well as establish a standard fee structure for such agreements. The fees will be maintained and updated in the County's Master Fee schedule. |

Explanation (Expenditure and/or Revenue) |
Further explanation as needed: |
Approving these template contract agreements for the Yolo EMS Agency (YEMSA) does not directly have a cost impact to the county. Each provider agreement will eventually generate revenue to the county through franchise, designee, and licensing fees which will be used to support YEMSA operations. |
