On December 4, 2012, the Board approved withdrawal from Sierra-Sacramento Valley (S-SV) Emergency Medical Services EMS Agency Joint Powers Agreement. In addition, the Board approved the creation of a Yolo County Local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency.
The Yolo County Health Department has been working on establishing the Yolo County Emergency Medical Services Agency (YEMSA) effective July 1, 2013. The YEMSA is responsible for ensuring the contracted Ambulance Provider(s) is in compliance with all applicable protocols, procedures and policies. In conjunction with contracted consultants and peers in a review of current Ordinance language, it was determined through this review process to appropriately modify the language to modern day standards. The addition of the 2 new definitions will clarify the specific services required of the ambulance provider while the modification to the existing definition will comply with the Board action approved on December 4, 2012. Lastly, the modification of the minimum insurance standards will be more in-line with current rates. These changes to the Yolo County Ordinance will coincide with YEMSA's compliance standards made to ensure safe, high level and reliable ambulance services are provided to the residents of Yolo County. |
