Yolo County recently terminated its contract with Sierra-Sacramento Valley (S-SV) Emergency Medical Services Agency and is currently working on creating its own Local Emergency Medical Services Agency (LEMSA) effective July 1, 2013. As part of this process, Yolo County Health Department intends to submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) to competitively select the most qualified candidate to provide exclusive emergency ambulance service for the County of Yolo. It is anticipated the RFP process will take a significant amount of time, possibly up to one year, to determine the best candidate; hence the need for an interim contract with the existing vendor, American Medical Response (AMR). The interim contract contains three Emergency Response Zones (ERZ) which help define the County by ambulance call frequency. In turn the ERZ help create emergency response time limits for the ambulance provider to adhere to. In addition, the interim contract has a pre-defined penalty structure to track compliance and set accountability standards for AMR.
Yolo County needs this interim contract in place to ensure a smooth transition from S-SV to Yolo Emergency Medical Services Agency (YEMSA) effective July 1, 2013 and provide continued emergency ambulance services to its residents. |
